It's these types of ridiculous questions that make interviewers feel important, but rarely produce a better candidate. How long would it take to learn the difference between __init__ and __new__? While I know Python, it's not my primary language. I know several languages but not to that nuanced level. I'll take a guy that can abstract a real-world problem in his head and give me a viable solution, over anyone who understands the differences between __init__ and __new__. I work in JS frequently, but even after years of using it I learn nuanced things about it all the time. If you continue to ask these types of questions of devs, it is to your own detriment and contributes to the idea that there aren't enough American developers to hire, when really there aren't enough interviewers who understand how to interview.
